1. Course Overview
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), also known as Ayurvedacharya, is the flagship program at MIAMS. The course aims to produce medical professionals who are well-versed in Ashtanga Ayurveda (the eight branches of Ayurveda) alongside modern anatomy, physiology, and surgical principles. The institute is particularly famous for its research-driven approach, especially in chronic conditions like cancer and autoimmune disorders.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program is a full-time residential course spanning 5.5 years:

Academic Phase (4.5 Years): Divided into professional years covering 14 specialized departments. Students study subjects like Dravyaguna (Pharmacology), Rasa Shastra (Iatrochemistry), Kayachikitsa (General Medicine), and Shalya Tantra (Surgery).

Compulsory Rotating Internship (1 Year): After passing the final professional exams, students undergo 12 months of clinical residency. Training is conducted at the Muniyal Ayurveda Hospital, where students participate in Panchakarma therapies and outpatient management.
3. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for BAMS admission at MIAMS, candidates must meet the following:

Academic Qualification: Must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB).
