1. Course Overview

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), also known as “Ayurvedacharya,” is a flagship undergraduate professional degree. At Global Institute of Ayurveda, the curriculum is designed to foster a profound understanding of Ashtanga Ayurveda—the eight branches of traditional medicine. Students engage in a dual-learning model, studying classical Ayurvedic texts (Samhitas) in conjunction with modern medical subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Surgery. The program emphasizes diagnostic precision and therapeutic excellence through traditional methods like Panchakarma and Ksharsutra.

2. Course Duration & Structure

The BAMS program is a 5.5-year residential course, structured as follows:

  • Academic Phase: 4.5 Years of classroom instruction and laboratory work, divided into three professional phases of 1.5 years each.

  • Compulsory Internship: 1 Year of mandatory rotatory residential internship. Students apply their knowledge in a clinical setting at the college’s attached Global Ayurveda Hospital, rotating through various specialized OPD and IPD units.

3. Eligibility Criteria

Prospective candidates must meet the following standardized requirements:

  • Academic Qualification: Passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects.

  • Minimum Marks: At least 50% aggregate in PCB for General category candidates (40-45% for reserved categories as per state norms).
