1. Course Overview
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), also known as “Ayurvedacharya,” is a flagship undergraduate professional degree. At LNAC, the curriculum is designed to foster a profound understanding of Ashtanga Ayurveda—the eight branches of traditional medicine. Students engage in a dual-learning model, studying classical Ayurvedic texts (Samhitas) in conjunction with modern medical subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Surgery. The program emphasizes diagnostic precision and therapeutic excellence through traditional methods like Panchakarma and Ksharsutra.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program is a 5.5-year residential course, structured as follows:

Academic Phase: 4.5 Years of classroom instruction and laboratory work, divided into professional phases.

Compulsory Internship: 1 Year of mandatory rotatory residential internship. Students apply their knowledge in a clinical setting at the college’s attached 132-bed multispecialty hospital, which features 10 specialty OPDs and extensive IPD facilities.
3. Eligibility Criteria
Prospective candidates must meet the following standardized requirements:

Academic Qualification: Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects.

Minimum Marks: At least 50% aggregate in PCB for General/EWS candidates (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates of Madhya Pradesh).

Entrance Exam: Mandatory qualification in the NEET-UG of the current academic year.

Age: Minimum 17 years old by December 31st of the year of admission.

The primary medium of instruction and examination is English, supplemented by Hindi to ensure effective communication with local patients during clinical postings. Sanskrit is taught as a fundamental subject in the first professional year to enable students to accurately interpret original Ayurvedic scriptures.
