1. Course Overview

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), also known as “Ayurvedacharya,” is a flagship undergraduate professional degree. At LNAC, the curriculum is designed to foster a profound understanding of Ashtanga Ayurveda—the eight branches of traditional medicine. Students engage in a dual-learning model, studying classical Ayurvedic texts (Samhitas) in conjunction with modern medical subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Surgery. The program emphasizes diagnostic precision and therapeutic excellence through traditional methods like Panchakarma and Ksharsutra.

2. Course Duration & Structure

The BAMS program is a 5.5-year residential course, structured as follows:

  • Academic Phase: 4.5 Years of classroom instruction and laboratory work, divided into professional phases.

  • Compulsory Internship: 1 Year of mandatory rotatory residential internship. Students apply their knowledge in a clinical setting at the college’s attached 132-bed multispecialty hospital, which features 10 specialty OPDs and extensive IPD facilities.
