1. Course Overview
Established in 1993 by the Bharteeya Sanskriti Prabodhini society, Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya & Research Centre (GAMRC) is the premier destination for Ayurvedic education in the coastal state of Goa. Situated in the serene, lush green landscape of Shiroda, the institute is dedicated to the rejuvenation of ancient Indian medical sciences. The BAMS (Ayurvedacharya) program provides a rigorous academic environment where traditional Vedic healing is integrated with modern clinical diagnostics, aiming to produce compassionate and highly skilled global healthcare professionals.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program is a full-time residential undergraduate degree with a total duration of 5.5 years:

Academic Study (4.5 Years): The curriculum is divided into professional phases as per NCISM regulations. Students gain extensive knowledge across 14 departments, including Sharir Kriya (Physiology), Dravyaguna (Pharmacology), Rasa Shastra (Iatrochemistry), and Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine).

Compulsory Rotating Internship (1 Year): After successfully passing the final professional examinations, students must complete a 12-month clinical residency. This training is conducted at the college’s attached Kamakshi Arogyadham, a 100-bed NABH-accredited multi-specialty hospital, providing hands-on experience in Panchakarma and traditional clinical treatments.
3. Eligibility Criteria
Prospective candidates must fulfill the following statutory requirements:

Academic Qualification: Passed 10+2 (HSSC) or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects.

Minimum Marks: At least 50% aggregate marks in PCB for General category and 40% for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC as per Goa state norms).

Entrance Exam: Mandatory qualification in the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) of the current academic year.

Age: Minimum 17 years of age on or before December 31st of the year of admission.
4. Admission Process
Admission is merit-based and follows the centralized counseling process of Goa:

NEET-UG Qualification: Secure a valid qualifying percentile in the national entrance exam.

DTE Goa Registration: Register for AYUSH counseling through the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Goa.

Choice Filling: During the online counseling process, prioritize “Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Shiroda” in the preference list.

Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted based on NEET rank, category reservations, and seat availability under State and All India Quotas.

Reporting: Allotted students must report to the college for document verification and final admission formalities.
5. Medium of Instruction
The primary medium of instruction is English. Additionally, students study Sanskrit as a foundational language to enable them to read and authentically interpret the original Ayurvedic Samhitas (classical texts).
