1. Course Overview
Bundelkhand Government Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Jhansi, is a premier state-run institution and one of the oldest Ayurvedic colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1934, it carries a legacy of nearly a century in traditional medical education. The BAMS program here is designed to offer a holistic learning experience, integrating the deep-rooted clinical traditions of Ayurveda with modern surgical and diagnostic techniques. It aims to produce competent physicians capable of handling diverse medical challenges through a nature-centered approach.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program is a 5.5-year undergraduate degree:

Academic Phase (4.5 Years): Divided into professional years covering subjects such as Maulik Siddhant (Fundamentals), Rachana Sharir (Anatomy), Dravyaguna (Pharmacology), and Shalya Tantra (Surgery).

Compulsory Internship (1 Year): A mandatory rotatory clinical internship at the attached Bundelkhand Government Ayurvedic Hospital, where students participate in live OPDs and IPDs to refine their diagnostic and therapeutic skills.
3. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB), and English as a core subject.

Minimum Marks: 50% aggregate in PCB for General category (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).

Entrance Exam: A valid qualifying score in the NEET-UG is mandatory.

Age: Minimum 17 years by December 31st of the year of admission.
4. Admission Process

NEET-UG: Candidates must appear for and qualify the NEET-UG examination.

Counseling Registration: Qualified students must register for the UP AYUSH Counseling for State Quota seats or the AACCC for All India Quota seats.

Seat Allotment: Based on merit rank and category, seats are allotted during the online counseling rounds.

Reporting: Allotted candidates must report to the Jhansi campus for document verification and fee payment to secure their admission.
5. Medium of Instruction
The primary media of instruction are Hindi and English. Proficiency in Sanskrit is essential as it is the language of the original Ayurvedic scriptures (Samhitas) which form the core of the academic curriculum.

The college is fully recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Ministry of AYUSH. It is affiliated with the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University, Gorakhpur, and operates under strict government regulatory standards.
