1. Course Overview
Dr. B.R.K.R. (Dr. Bondalakunta Rama Krishna Rao) Government Ayurvedic College, Hyderabad, is a premier and historic institution in Telangana, established in 1935. Located in Erragadda, opposite the ESI Hospital, it is one of the oldest and most respected Ayurvedic colleges in South India. The BAMS program at this college is designed to provide a comprehensive medical education that integrates the profound, ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with essential modern medical sciences. The institution is dedicated to producing “Vaidyas” (physicians) who are ethically grounded and clinically proficient in traditional healing as well as contemporary diagnostics.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program is a full-time professional medical degree spanning 5.5 years:

Academic Curriculum (4.5 Years): The study is divided into professional phases as per NCISM regulations. Students explore a vast array of subjects, including:

Sanskrit, Samhita & Siddhanta (Fundamental Principles & Classical Texts).

Sharir Rachana (Anatomy) and Sharir Kriya (Physiology).

Dravyaguna (Ayurvedic Pharmacology) and Rasashastra (Iatrochemistry).

Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine), Shalya Tantra (Surgery), and Shalakya Tantra (ENT/Ophthalmology).

Panchakarma (Bio-purification therapies) and Prasuti Tantra (Obstetrics).

Compulsory Internship (1 Year): After successfully clearing the final professional examinations, students must complete a twelve-month mandatory rotatory clinical internship at the attached Government Ayurvedic Hospital, gaining intensive hands-on experience in patient care.
3. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the BAMS program, candidates must fulfill the following:

Educational Qualification: Completion of 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects, including a pass in English.

Minimum Marks: A minimum aggregate of 50% in PCB for General/EWS category candidates. For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) of Telangana domicile, the requirement is 40%.

Entrance Examination: Qualifying in the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is mandatory.

Age: Must be at least 17 years of age on or before December 31st of the admission year.

Admissions are merit-based and strictly follow the centralized government counseling process:
