1. Course Overview
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a premier undergraduate professional degree. The curriculum at DSDSAC is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of Ashtanga Ayurveda (the eight branches of Ayurveda) alongside essential modern medical subjects. Students are trained in:

Classical Samhitas: In-depth study of the Charaka, Sushruta, and Vagbhata Samhitas.

Clinical Specialties: Practical training in Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine), Shalya Tantra (Surgery), and Panchakarma (Bio-purification).

Ayurvedic Pharmacy: Study of Rasashastra and Dravyaguna for the preparation and use of herbal and mineral medicines.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The program follows the standardized national guidelines prescribed by the NCISM:

Total Duration: 5.5 Years.

Academic Phase: 4.5 Years of intensive classroom and clinical instruction, divided into three professional phases (1.5 years each).

Compulsory Internship: 1 Year of mandatory rotatory clinical internship. During this year, students gain hands-on experience in the college’s 60+ bed hospital, managing OPD and IPD patients.
3. Eligibility Criteria
Prospective students must meet the following statutory requirements:

Educational Qualification: Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects.

Minimum Marks: At least 50% aggregate in PCB for General/EWS candidates (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates of Madhya Pradesh).

Entrance Exam: Mandatory qualification in the NEET-UG of the current academic year.

Age: Minimum 17 years of age as of December 31st of the admission year.

Domicile: Primarily for residents of Madhya Pradesh for state quota seats (85%).

The primary medium of instruction is English, supplemented by Hindi. Sanskrit is taught as a compulsory subject to ensure students can accurately read and interpret original Ayurvedic scriptures.
