Government Ayurvedic Medical College (GAMC), Akhnoor (Jammu)

The Government Ayurvedic Medical College (GAMC) is the premier state-run Ayurvedic institution in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. While originally founded in 1962, the college was revived in 2017 to meet the growing demand for traditional medical education. The institution operates across two strategic locations: a modern academic campus in Akhnoor and its historic clinical headquarters at Indira Chowk, Jammu. As a government-funded body, it is the primary referral center for Ayurvedic healthcare in the region, offering students a robust platform for both academic learning and high-volume clinical practice.

The college is widely recognized for its subsidized fee structure and its role in mainstreaming AYUSH systems in the Himalayan region.
