1. Course Overview
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a professional undergraduate degree that integrates the deep-rooted wisdom of Ayurveda with modern medical sciences. At NEIAH, the BAMS program is designed to produce competent physicians who are well-versed in both traditional healing and contemporary diagnostics. The curriculum emphasizes “Swasthasya Rakshanam” (Maintenance of Health) and “Aturasya Vikara Prashamanam” (Cure of Disease), providing a holistic foundation for healthcare practice.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program at NEIAH spans a total of 5.5 years:

Academic Duration: 4.5 years, divided into three professional phases (1.5 years each).

Mandatory Internship: 1 year of compulsory rotatory clinical internship, where students gain hands-on experience in the institute’s affiliated hospital and various community health centers.
3. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the BAMS course, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Academic Qualification: Must have passed the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects.

Minimum Marks: A minimum aggregate of 50% in PCB (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) is required.

Entrance Exam: Mandatory qualification in the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for the current academic year.
