1. Course Overview
The BAMS program at Sri Sairam is designed to provide students with a robust foundation in traditional Ayurvedic principles while incorporating essential modern medical sciences. The curriculum emphasizes the preventive and curative aspects of health through natural therapies, dietary management, and internal cleansing. Students are trained to use modern diagnostic techniques alongside classical pulse diagnosis and herbal pharmacology.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The program is a full-time residential course lasting 5.5 years:

Academic Phases (4.5 Years): The study is divided into three professional phases (1.5 years each). Subjects include Padartha Vigyan (Philosophy), Rachana Sharir (Anatomy), Dravyaguna (Pharmacology), Shalya Tantra (Surgery), and Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine).

Compulsory Rotatory Internship (1 Year): A mandatory 12-month clinical training at the attached 60-bed NABH-accredited Sairam Ayurveda Hospital, allowing students to gain practical experience in various OPD and IPD units.
3. Eligibility Criteria

Age: Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the year of admission.

Education: Completion of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Minimum Marks: At least 50% aggregate in PCB (40% for reserved categories).

Entrance Exam: Qualification in the NEET-UG of the current academic year is mandatory.
4. Admission Process
Admissions are merit-based and follow the Tamil Nadu State Government norms:

NEET-UG: Appear and qualify in the national entrance exam.

Counseling: Register for the TN AYUSH Counseling (State Quota) or apply through the Management Quota.

Seat Allotment: 65% of seats are filled via the Government Quota and 35% via the Management Quota.

Verification: Shortlisted candidates must report to the college for document verification and final admission.
5. Medium of Instruction
The primary medium of instruction is English. Sanskrit is also taught as a compulsory subject during the first professional year to help students understand classical Ayurvedic texts (Samhitas).
