1. Course Overview
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), or “Ayurvedacharya,” is a professional undergraduate degree that offers a comprehensive study of integrated Indian medicine. At J.B. Roy, students delve deep into the classical Samhitas while mastering modern medical subjects. 2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program is a 5.5-year residential course, strictly adhering to NCISM standards:

Academic Phase: 4.5 Years divided into professional terms covering subjects like Rachana Sharir (Anatomy), Kriya Sharir (Physiology), Dravyaguna, and Shalya Tantra (Surgery).

Compulsory Internship: 1 Year of mandatory rotatory residential internship. Students receive practical training across the college’s two hospital campuses, managing a high volume of patients in OPD and IPD settings.

Stipend: Being a government institution, interns are eligible for a monthly stipend as per West Bengal government rules (currently approx. ₹29,733/- per month).
3. Eligibility Criteria
Prospective candidates for the 2026-27 academic session must meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualification: Passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) and English.
