1. Course Overview
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), or “Ayurvedacharya,” is a professional undergraduate degree that integrates the core philosophy of Ayurveda with contemporary medical sciences. At Rishikul, the curriculum emphasizes the study of classical texts like the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita alongside modern Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Surgery. The program is designed to produce physicians capable of providing holistic healthcare through traditional diagnostics, herbal pharmacology, and advanced clinical methods.
2. Course Duration & Structure
The BAMS program is a 5.5-year integrated professional course:

Academic Phase: 4.5 Years of classroom instruction and intensive laboratory training divided into three professional terms.

Compulsory Internship: 1 Year of mandatory rotatory residential internship. Students receive practical training at the college’s attached 210-bed multispecialty hospital, which provides round-the-clock emergency services—the only government Ayurvedic hospital in the state to do so.

Stipend: Being a government institution, interns are eligible for a monthly stipend (currently approx. ₹15,000/- per month) as per state government norms.
3. Eligibility Criteria
Prospective candidates for the 2026-27 session must meet the following standardized requirements:

Academic Qualification: Passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects and English.

Minimum Marks: At least 50% aggregate in PCB for General category candidates (40% for SC/ST/OBC and 45% for PwD candidates).

Entrance Exam: Mandatory qualification in the NEET-UG 2026 exam with a valid percentile.

Age: Minimum 17 years old by December 31st of the year of admission.

5. Medium of Instruction
The primary medium of instruction and examination is Hindi and English. Sanskrit is taught in the first professional year to enable students to accurately interpret original Ayurvedic scriptures and shlokas.
